Default Hard shifts up and down

Original symptoms were a hard down shift form 3rd to 2nd. Then car failed to engage in any gear after sitting on the driveway for 2 months. Let it roll into the level street, then I was able to engage and drive into the garage to get it on the hoist. (There was a slow transmission oil leak) so I wasn't surprised when it wouldn't engage.

Replaced the Mechatronics Sleeve, Oil pan and filter, Solenoids, and installed a Sonnax Zip Kit. Only drained out about 4 Liters of oil. Put back in 7 with engine running as prescribed. This tells me that my slight leak had lost around 3 liters over time. (Its amazing how much oil those covers can absorb before dripping).

When starting the car, I had to jump it even though it had been on a charger for 2 days. Battery has tested good. May be dealing with a temperamental IBS module

Car ran good, a little stiff on the shifts once done. Did the "turn the key on and press the gas pedal for 30 seconds" adaptations reset. Shifts are pretty harsh now, up and down. I cant imagine that is how the factory reset should be operating. Engine Oil monitor keeps telling me there is insufficient oil. I just changed the oil and level is fine. (IBS module again?)

Any thought on if they may improve with normal driving (shifting issues) or is there something different I should give a try.

Any help is much appreciated.

John

I don't think that works with the pedal ( some says it does but I have never trusted it). You need to reset adaptions via INPA or ISTA. You will then also having shifting issues until it learns the driver again. It takes 250 mi to relearn and usually around 100 miles it becomes unnoticeable that it's still learning. After you change all that it's normal (Oil viscosity, new parts).

What do you mean by battery tested good? And did you load test it? Was it registered upon installation?

Hi Sean, I stopped at O'Reilly and they did a a couple loads tests. (They couldn't figure out is it was a conventional battery or AGM) It was registered when it was replaced 2 years ago under warranty at the dealership. I will see if I can upload the INPA onto my computer and give that a try. Would an Autell MX808 work to reset such adaptations ?

How they couldn't tell either it's sealed or not? Honestly I don't think that has nothing to do with what's going on. Either the battery works or it doesn't and you would know if it didn't by getting lights on the dash.

The MX808 can only read and clear transmission codes. Who knows maybe what you did reset the adaptions but I highly doubt it. Drive around for 50 miles and see if it gets better. I just know resetting the adaptions in INPA is the best way to go to make sure it has been reset.

Yeah read my post on my experience with them (I didn't mention the store name though). I had to actually teach them how to properly test my battery. No joke.

When you do the transmission adaptation, there is a whole routine of test drives to perform - driving at certain speeds in certain gears and gradually accelerating to higher gears and higher speeds. It's explained in the manual.

+1 on resetting adaptations using INPA. I just did solenoids and sleeves on a 180k mile 6hp26. I took it on a test drive prior to resetting adaptations (for s&g's) and it shifted horribly. Reset adaptations and immediately felt 90% better, after a few miles it's shifting perfect. I'm not sure the entire history of this vehicle but solenoid EDS6 had failed and I'm sure the seals were leaking. Also, I read the hold pedal method doesn't reset the EGS adaptations. Good luck!
