I know these are based on the same 5 series frame, but the 6 has additional technologies....can someone with knowledge explain which one handles better?

Thanks !

I'm pretty sure that they are not based on the same frame.............. I've driven both and would be hard pressed to say that they have much in common................ other than they are a ton of fun to drive. They do share several components but their platforms are very different , I find that our 6 has a very light feeling backend and that the 5 has/ is more balanced.... apple vs orange , both nice but different.

The 6er is ugly compared to the 5er . But is more sporty .
Never driven the 6, but it looks faster .

they are based on the same frame,yes... the design was tajen originally from the 5 and made shorter then put on the 6...
but do to the 6 series being a little smaller, a little lower, i would expect the thing to be a little more agile.. but i have NEVER driven a 6 series..

the 5 series looks alot better than the 6 series (to me atleast)..
the 6 series may be a coupe, but its really big in size, so its not much of a sports car..
if you want a sports car that handles REALLY well get a 3 series..that thing handles more like an olympic athelte than a car...
and i expect the 1 series to handle even better

Having gone from a 650i to a 550i, I can answer the question. Both cars are/were sport package and equiped with ARS. The 650i had Bridgestone RFTs, the 550i has Conti SC2's (non runflat). The 650i absolutely feels lower to the ground and more neutral. When pushed hard, the 650i has a lighter feel but couldn't be considered nimble. At the limit, the 550i tends to understeer and needs some throttle control (and possibly DTC mode) to stay neutral. The 650i stays perfectly neutral up to the limit and with the stiff runflat tires, actually can "skitter" the back end out, especially on a wet or bumpy road. Thats even with DSC fully enabled. By feel, the 650i is more a sports car, by the numbers the two are darn close.
