I have 2006 503i with automatic trans, non sport, 2750 miles. My previous car was a 2002 530i with automatic trans, non sport.

About a week ago I started noticing for the first time when the vehicle stops it ends with a halting jerking motion, even when stopping from only a few miles per hour. I had not noticed this before, and I don?t remember my 2002 530i doing it either. Our other vehicle is a 2006 Lexus RX400h. While you can sense the same characteristic, it?s barely noticeable.

I first thought it was the nose of the car going down and up when the car stops, but I see at even only a few mph that can be the case.

I am suspecting that at some point the brakes finally stop the car and it wants to keep going, even at slow speeds. When I take my foot off the brakes on level pavement the vehicle will definitely move forward. My RPM when stopped at a light with my foot on the brakes is 700 RPM.

Any thoughts, ideas, observations?
