Hello everyone....
I just took delivery of my 530xi a few weeks ago and just found this forum!
I'm upgrading from an 04 330xi and I must say that the 5er is an entirely different beast, and I love it.

I've got a few other BMWs....
I've got an 86 325, an 88 750iL, and a 92 525i.

My fiance is also a bimmerphile now...she went from an XC90 T6 to a 650i in January, and she drives a 325iX in the winter.

I have a few questions about my car!

1. My windshield washer fluid is the same clear fluid that came in my e46...BUT....I haven't been able to find it anywhere! This stuff is really good, and the concentrate that the dealer sells is NOT the same thing. Any leads?

2. Who here also ignores the recommended 10k ridiculous oil change interval and changes their oil every 5k miles? It's unnatural to let your fluids go that long without replacement, and I want to know that I'm not crazy.

3. I love the car but there do seem to be one or two MINOR issues...I'm not complaining, I'm used to older cars....BUT...here goes: 1. My steering wheel makes a rumbling noise accompanied by a jerky motion when moving into position. Haven't taken it to the dealer yet, but I want to know what I'm looking at here.

Another thing is that from time to time I get a message that says "Increased Emissions" in the display. I CALLED the service advisor on this and he seemed to think it was related to the gas I was using, but it seems to come on no matter which gas station in town I go to, at random times. I ALWAYS use the highest possible octane, usually Sunoco 94. Maybe I have a faulty o2 sensor?

Thanks!

Congratulations Nick, and welcome. On your questions:

You--2. Who here also ignores the recommended 10k ridiculous oil change interval and changes their oil every 5k miles? It's unnatural to let your fluids go that long without replacement, and I want to know that I'm not crazy.

Me--Many change more frequently, and many do not. If you do a search, then you'll probably find some of the "debates" about what to do. I go by the BMW schedule.

You--3. My steering wheel makes a rumbling noise accompanied by a jerky motion when moving into position. Haven't taken it to the dealer yet, but I want to know what I'm looking at here.

Me--Who knows? Bad motor? Bad track? Dealer time, me thinks.

1. I dunno I never use the windshiled fluid squirting thing... i think mines all clogged up but I dont care.

2. I ignore it. I change the oil once after break in to flush out all the junk and then change it once in between the recommended schedule.

3. YOu mean when it moves down / up when you shut down the engine?
