Congratulations Craig!!!

If you do get a 550i, do yourself a favor and get a stick shift. No tranny problems and LOADS more fun!
actually, I will be downsizing when my lease is up in under 2 years. If I stay with BMW, which i likely will, although it has left me with a sour taste, i would love to get an e92 M3 vert. black with red interior

i would likely look to purchase a used one at that point. and it will of course be stick. I was actually shopping for a manual 335 when i ended up with my car, because the dealer has NONE and tried to tell me that they didnt make them

Wow FAIL

That E92 M3 vert is HAWT! Although I don't really like black on the E92 M3.... and are you sure you want to take on the battle of maintaining the paint on a black car again?

I know you have some time ahead of you haha but have you thought of Alpine White or Space Grey??

I looked at the laws a bit. it really isnt in the consumers favor. I wonder what the dealership would say if i told them i was contacting an attorney about lemon laws. i wish i were still dating that lawyer

this will only be the second time it is actually in for the fuel pump. i think a third occurance allows me to move forward with lemon law case. Problem is I got such a good deal on it, if BMW just lets me out of the lease, i would have to lease another and it would cost me a lot more a month because of the deal i got on this one.

The 550 must go up in value and image every time we see another letter on here about this. Has the cause of the problem been identified? If so, has it been remedied? This is a pretty serious problem in my opinion, in this type of car, not unlike the gas pedal issue with the Audi long ago. Seems to be a debacle. I wouldn't buy one.

Is there any credible evidence that there is a correlation between Shell gas and failed HPFPs? I've read one such allegation but do not subscribe to it.

Interestingly, my 2008 535 ran flawlessly for me until I recently filled up with Shell (first time I have ever put Shell in the car) in Boulder. 75 miles later the HPFP went out. Thus, the query.

I doubt that Shell gas is the reason that HPFPs fail, but definitely needs to be investigated. Although, at this point, I'm sure BMW would LOVE to blame the issue off on anything possible - give them some time and they'll blame it on the global warming
