thanks all. I have 32K on my car. I haven't called the dealer yet. I am just having long cranks, maybe 7 seconds or so. no engine malfunction yet. i am gonna get the car into the dealer in the next week or two.
Maybe a good opportunity to get into a nice 550? That IS N/A ya know

+1. Make them buy back the 535 and hop into a 550.

Seriously, that really sucks Craig.

Ditto

It took 3 trips for me in which one failed on the dealer during a test drive of a replaced pump... for a grand total of 5 in 10 months and 12k...

Best of luck , hopefully this will be the last one.

HPFP means High Pressure Fuel Pump. They are very prone to breaking on the x35i cars.

HPFP = the bane of the otherwise fabulous 535. Absent this problem, the 535 offers the best bang for your buck of any of the E60s IMHO.

I sure hope that the numerous FI engines going into the F10 don't have a similar problem or it could do serious harm to BMW's business given how important the 5 Series is to BMW.

Still say dump it and get a 550, that way you're guaranteed no more HPFP issues
