I've also had odd experiences with the postioning of the NAV on occasion.

I have use the Input Map to place my 'home' location in my driveway. But when I use that location as my destination, the NAV tells me to drive to the home 2 doors away from mine instead.

I thought that this was an input error, so I deleted that location from the address list and later, replaced it again, but still with similar wierdness. It always recognizes another location instead of my home location.

Any ideas on that one?

I think I remember reading somewhere that the car's pinpoint accuracy will self-correct over time as the system merges the GPS data with the dead-reckoning sensors and gyros in the car.

I remember once after a software update on my E39 nav that the little "crosshair" (the circle that represents the car) wasn't moving down the center of the road as it was before the upgrade. I figured it was going to stay that way for good but it eventually re-calibrated itself.

I can only assume that the same holds true on the E60...

Does anyone know if the GPS system can be honed to accuracy by the dealer in SW updates.? I used to get pinpoint directions when I was in Europe but ever since US delivery and subsequent SW updates,? I get the "You have arrived" either 300ft early or I have to drive 300ft past my destination.

In my M3's nav there is a function in the NAV menu to calibrate or zero in your position...forget what it's called, but if it can be done in the older NAV, it should also be possible in the professional nav of the e60.

In my Lexus GS, I was able to reposition for accuracy...

I sure wish NavTeq would come out with a new DVD....

My God, they could show you being one yard deep in the end-zone when, in reality, you would be on the opposite one-yard line!

I'm having the same problem. It worked fine in Germany, but here it's off by two or three houses.

One day I had a malfunction and found myself in the middle of Poland, even though I was driving in Frankfurt...

Same as mine! I think that's the latest in the US. Anyone have anything later than Feb of 2004?

Rudy, I usually don't bring gyros in my car, since the strong smell of greek food doesn't go well with the leather seat smell.
