Took my girlfriend and E60 for a wintry roadtrip to my parents today. Weather was like a bride: white and beautiful (or cold and tight ).
Fresh -20?C in the morning when we left and only -10?C the rest of day. Clean, snowy roads, ahhh....

And because of almost no traffic at all, I got some nice readings in a tank range and consumption measurements. Not spectacular that's for sure, but nice at least .
Notice the already driven kms with this tank too !

I got 6,1 liters / 100km. I've got 5,9 at summer time.

Other people also were out to enjoy.

These "distance to go" indicators can be fun or not.

I went to visit my father yesterday, and because of an accident, I was held up in stop-go traffic for well over an hour. I left his house later that day, and the indicator said 472 miles range. I went to pick up my son from a friend's house - I travelled 88 miles on dual carriageway, main roads and back roads, not going quickly, but cruising in the 80's and 90's. On arrival my indicator said 503 miles range!!!!

Somehow I don't think I was generating diesel as I was going along

Of course I'm not getting that much of kilometers with a single tank of diesel. Downtown driving will crush the numbers down. The reality I'm getting in the city is 700-800 kms with a single tank.

And of course the indicator climbs up in a stable road driving. Like yours 472 -> 503 miles. The OBC gets the number calculating it from the consumption, which lowers down during a stable drive.

My dad sometimes uses our 530d (218 hp) to travel to work (regional single carrigeway - 100km/day) and he also got exactly 6.1 litres/100 km. As far as I remember, I went once to fill it up, and the "RANGE" showed me something like 1200 km.....but only when he`s driving it to work and back...Normally the range in my case would be about 900-1000 km ( about 7 - 7.5 litres / 100km). By the way, your mileage is exactly the same as mine
