I live in NJ and have never heard of headlight theft which means that sometime in the next few days I will probably have my headlights stolen.
Headlight theft started before HID kits were readily available for so cheap. They were mainly stolen
for the bulbs and ballasts, not the actual headlight assembly. Installed in lower end japanese cars.
If there's a demand for something, there will always be someone there to supply it.

hi mate,
the reason the headlight doesn't slide out the way you expect, is because you haven't completed all steps to achieve the way it was designed to be removed.
You will need to create a little extra space by removing/loosening the following trim:
Attachment 76571
btw, there must be at least a few DIY on this forum explaining it - did you search at all ?
love the car + love to work on it !

My Ride: 2004 545i - Bone stock... help!
I find it easy to get off, very hard to get back in for some reason. I've done it half dozen times now and every time I mini-panic when trying to get back in
. It still hasn't gotten easier for me.
Next to taking out the center console for the high-idrive units - I'd rather replace a thousand headlights though.. THAT is a pain in the f'ing ass!

Dude, in NJ headlight theft is huge, I'm glad they can't take mine with a couple of turns of a screw driver.
