Goodbye e60, Hello f10!
Well, after three e60s, earlier today I said goodbye to my '08 550 in favor of a 2011 550i sport 6MT. From my e39s to my e60s, it's been a fun ride and the wealth of knowledge I have acquired from this board has been nothing short of amazing. I wish you all the very best with your e60s and I will surely pop by once in a while to see what's what.
Btw, first impressions of the f10 are as follows:
1. MUCH more refined. The interior, the NAV and the overall look and feel are light years ahead of the e60 platform. Also, the f10 is only a few inches wider and longer, but it feels much roomier inside.
2. the f10, even with sport package and dynamic handling package, handles a lot worse than any e60 I have ever driven, and CERTAINLY cannot handle to the e39 in terms of feedback and steering response. I am hoping that lowering springs and an M5 sway will greatly improve this. 21" wheels should help, too.
3. The twin-turbo V8 (N63) is EXTREMELY engaging and pulls a lot harder than the normally aspirated e60 motors. I am very excited to make a push for 500HP with a tune some other sensible mods.
That's all I've got for now...
(I still have my HREs sans tires and TMPS, so if anyone wants to pick up a set of perfect e60 fitment wheels, inquire within.)
Cheers and thank you!

Yes the F10 is very nice but on our 2011 it had the annoying engine stop that had to be reset each time you started the car. I am sure it could have been programmed out. Now on our 2013 F10 LCI they have coded it so that the switch retains its memory. I am just not a big fan of my engine turning off an on constantly when I stop.
I was just looking at number of members online and E60 has around 68 and F10 has 2! Surely there must be a better site with more activity?

congratulations on the car. here's to hoping you don't get bitten by the "car pulls - upper control arms are bent" issue that seems to plague a lot of F10 owners.

it is a well documented problem with the F10 chassis. the solution many times is replacement of both upper control arms in the front, on the customer's dime of course. Yes I know people who have been through this; one of them is an SA I know at my local dealer. He's not too happy.
the last time I looked, real OEM shows three different upper control arms for RWD F10 cars, two of which have amounts of camber correction manufactured into the arm.
It's a design flaw in either the chassis or the front suspension geometry, and BMW figured out it was easier to replace arms and bill the customer than admit they made a big boo boo in the design process. google "E46 rear floor class action lawsuit" to see what happens when BMW makes a boo boo in the design process and pisses of just the right amount of people.
don't mean to scare anyone, but the F10 has its flaws too.
