Alright, so I'm going with red calipers. Silver E60 with hypersilver wheels, so I'm excited and I think it will look good. Here is my question and please forgive the lack of proper technical terms: when I take the wheel off, there is the axle that looks all rusted. Can this be painted black the same as a caliper would be painted? Any tips beyond making sure to cover all surrounding parts well?

Thanks!

On silver, I think black caliper with white BMW letters will look better.

Yes you can paint the hub but need to clean off those rust with brake cleaner fluid and good brush. Just tape off the pads and rotors using painters tape and old newspaper. Also tape off the brake lines and it's connector. Make sure to put some newspaper around the weld and cover up the exterior just in case due to the overspray.

Did mine last week but still need to apply the letters though.

just took some, sorry it's a bit bright and sunny outside...this is the first time I've ever taken any pic of my car. May be it's because my photography skills suck.

Haha! No, man...that looks great! I currently have my calipers black against the silver car and wheels it's a good look, but just not the right pop. I'll throw up some pics of the red once done.
What color is your car?

jet black...was thinking of doing the red calipers once I'm bored with this look but for now, I still need to see how it looks like with white BMW letters. I have several set of BMW letters here, black, red and white. Saving the black just in case I decide to go silver.

Don't do red calipers pls, unless it's A big brake kit like brembro or m5 calipers, original calipers is to small, if you paint it red it will look tacky and a wanna be big brake, paint it gloss black it really makes a difference
Check out my thread when I switched to m5 rotors and m5 calipers and then I sprayed it gloss black

I did mine red and changed the discs to drilled as I wanted a better look than standard but thought a BBK or M5 kit on a 530i just wasn't worth the expense.
Here's mine.

It's actually worth the expense coz amazing stopping power, rotors are bigger giving it a better look, and also since it is OEM you guaranteed that it will not warp as suppose to the aftermarket one.. That's just my opinion tho
Btw: set up is pretty cool, just not sure about the red calipers especially on a 5 spoke wheel

May be down the line when my rotors are worn out, I'll replace it with cross drilled rotors, then I'll change the calipers to red. Always digging the look of the drilled rotors.
