Going from 18s to 19s, do I need TPMS?

I am trying to buy a set of 172s that dont come with TPMS. My existing 124/RFT have the TPMS. A few questions:
- are they interchangeable?
- is it worth spending the $ to remove them from my 18s and get them mounted to my 19s?
- do i really need TPMS if I dont have runflats?

Yes, a halfway decent tire shop should be able to change them out for you.
- is it worth spending the $ to remove them from my 18s and get them mounted to my 19s?
Yes, if you want the system to work. It might even throw iDrive errors if you don't have any sensors mounted.

Yes, TPMS is a great safety feature, without runflats it's even more important, not less.

Your car will show the Flat tire warning on the dash without them, and the dealership will not turn it off for you, for safety and liability purposes. Swap the TPMS for buy new ones for $200.

Not quite true, you are thinking of FTM which is what I have on my car. TPMS does actually have a sensor in the valve stem to monitor pressures.
