I believe u can also get to the secondary air passages by removing the exhaust manifold . U can get to them and clean em out from underneath the car.

Well I fitted the new valve stem seals just now. Really easy.
The secondary air ports were pretty clear, but I have give it some extra cleaning anyway.
I'm just letting it all dry out in the house now.

I'm unsure whether I'm going to do the other head. The reason being: cost of head gasket & bolts. If I go Victor Reinz, it's $70 per gasket. Bolts I can only find OEM, and they're about $50 per head.
OEM head gasket is something stupid like $120 each!!
They cost ~$5 each to make

I had to take this head off to be able to change the chain guides, but that's not the case for the other head.

Change valve seals regardless, obviously.

I'd just leave it probably if it were mine

Ya,, I've seen that before and actually know some one who had it done on their car.. I was thinking since OP has the whole front end off,it would be easier to get the manifolds off .and save the cash it would take for that cleaning jig,,,,

If u have the cash ,, go for it,, do both heads. It will save u time and money from having to do it again and having to spend more money for all the other gaskets needed for a second time around.

I think I am going to do the other head. Mostly just so that I know it's good and clean in there. I bought this car as a non runner - water pissing out of the weep hole, broken auto box, and I didn't know if they'd warped the heads or what.
Anyway, looking at this head, it all looks good. I would think I'd be able to tell if the gasket hadn't been sealing.
So I'll do the other side just for peace of mind.

By the way: when I removed the right side cylinder head, I found the coolant pipe front seal lodged in the coolant passage around cylinder numer 2!!

This was actually round 2!
The first chunk (quite big) was actually sticking up and out when I lifted the head off.
