Does anyone know what the side / rocker panel part number is for the e60? How much should this cost to replace?

My wife was driving the e60 this morning and ended up hitting a pothole. Apparently the pothole was so deep the car's rocker panel hit the hole and chunk of the panel broke off (see attached pic). I am not sure what else is damaged (hopefully nothing), as I have not seen the car yet in person. It appears to be on the passenger side.

...or should I just say FTW and put an M-tech kit on the car!

Oh, because here in Illinois if you take your eye off the road its kinda like what happened to Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings with the Balrog.

Welcome to Illinois:

I think p/n 51717066222 'bout $179 primed according to RealOEM http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=51&fg=20 and you'll need to chk w/ body shop for painting and/or replacement cost.

...of course M-Tech kit will look better

Really sorry to read about this.

What about the rim and tire?

I know you want to believe your wife and I am sure that she always tells the truth, but man, did she hit a crater or something? Man, I thought I lived in pothole capital of the world, but this is ridiculous.

Well, since your wife probably feels rather guilty about this, I would go for the M-Tech as I am sure that she would not object to the expense, given what she did. You were just offered the baseball equivalent of a marital meatball, my friend. Swing for the fence, swing for the fence.

If my wife did that to my E60 I would firmly, but politely tell her that the only thing she is ever allowed to drive again is stick, and its not attached to the car.

Thanks man. I am concerned about this also. I have not seen the car yet... only that picture. I am praying it is only the side panel that cracked. Well, perhaps 172 style rims are in my near future as well.
