Today it happened again.
I started my car and iDrive didn't come on. It happened to me before. The only fix is to turn off the car and let it sit for 15min. or so.
Unfortunately today we were running late for a get-together up near Sacramento.
So, I couldn't wait 15min.

We had a two hour drive with no music, no NAV, no phone - nothing!!!
I am getting sick of it!!!

Is it too much to ask for your radio to come on when you turn on your car??

It doesn't happen very often, and normally I can live without the creature-feature for 30min. on my way in to work. But a 2 hour drive with nothing, really sucks!!

Did you try pressing both eject buttons and the mute button at the same time to force a reboot? (You can do it while you're driving...)

I had the same problem you're experiencing. Blank screens began after upgrading to Progman v.25. Dealer found stored problem codes and reflashed the software. They also "recoded the CCC" (as stated on the paperwork). Since then (almost two months ago), no blank iDrive screens.

Yeah, I tried the good old CTRL-ALT-DEL trick, but it didn't work. You could see that the system was trying to do something, because once in a while the screen "flashed", but still nothing. Anyway, I'll have to go to the dealer and have them look into it.

I had exactly the same problem. Pressing two eject buttons and volume knob at the same time and it did not work. Screen is on but blank and they off. Weird.

Until you have the CCC repaired/replaced turn the car off, wait 30 seconds then re-start.
