States that require front-mounted plates (i.e. California) will definitely hit you with some fine$$$. I assume that if a state doesn't require a front plate, they'll let you have a novelty tag instead, but it wouldn't hurt to dbl check

i've decided to do the same thing as member devildawg712. so far he hasn't had any problems with cops and it looks great.
