Gearbox failure in new E60!!

My Ride: E60 530i Sport, Carbon Black, Grey Leather, Maple Wood, Prof Sat Nav, Bluetooth, CD Changer, Sun Roof, M Spolier and Logic 7 Prof Hifi
hi all...... was so proud on 31/3/05... picked up my new 530 sports... every thing was great....
then just 403 miles later and just under two weeks the transmission errort flashed up....
.... then 2 miles later... the gearbox died..
BMW saying this is very unusual.....not had it happen before..... so now waiting for new gearbox from germany.......
anynone else heard of this problem.. or was i really that unlucky!!!

hi.... yeah its the new 3.0i engine and its an auto box... or rather should say... it was an auto box!!!!

i have spoken to a few technicians sales guys and discovered mine was not the only new E60 sports to have this problem...... But the 2nd!!!! according to BMW there is no known problem with these cars... just two unlucky people i guess!!
i have had this up on another site and not got much response so can only assume it is not a common issue......
