Parked the car outside at school for a couple hours and went to pour some gas at lunch and the lid didnt open! It was only like -2 celcius, weirdd, so I had to go home and keep the car in the garage and finally after a few hours it opened. I also called BMW assist at the gas station they offered for it to be towed and everythingg but I said no, Ill just take it home and try to fix itt. Pretty strange, good thing the gas wasnt at zero. Never knew the gas cap could freeze shut...
Anyones else had their gas lid freeze? haha..

The spring loaded "flap" popper sticks on mine occasionaly, which means when you press it - it doesnt fire the flap outwards, you have to hook your finger nail down the side and pry open the flap instead, wonder if yours did this instead of freezing like you thought ?

the trick for cold weather is to put a thin smear of "vasoline" (petrolium jelly) on hinges/rubber trim round the doors etc, and you will have no more freezing/sticking problems due to the cold weather...saves rubber perishing or tearing due to sticking.,

I felt a bit silly for not trying this before but i just assumed the electric release button was jammed stuck. I mentioned it when it went in for a service and the push release has been fine since they looked at it.

i had a problem with my fuel door a month or 2 ago. i had trouble opening cause the spring would not extend enough to get my fat fingers in. a quick fix was to take a rubber stopper/bumper (just like the rubber dots that protect your bathroom medicine chest from slamming shut) and stick it to the inside of the fuel door. now the door pops opens enough to get my finger in.
