Hi all,

Got myself a 2008 550i and for the life of me I cant program my original garage door opener into my integrated opener located in the rear view mirror. Now I'm not a newbie to this i have a 750 as well as 545 and was able to program those cars no problem what so ever.

Not this one i tried changing distance ,direction, intervals no cigar. Can anyone suggest a trick or I'm beginning to think i have a faulty module. Oh by the way I did the reset and cleared all existing programming blah blah blah...so i need help.

Thanks

Yeah it was tricky especially if you have the rolling codes ... you have to do 2 steps ... 1st re-program the remote to the mirror and the mirror to the garage motor.
I ended up calling HomeLink support and they assisted me in no time ... give them a try ... few mins wait and all good. GL!

Make sure the battery in the remote is not weak. I've heard that the code won't transfer if it receives a weak signal.

So programming needs to be done from the remote to the mirror first, then from mirror to the garage opener after for rolling codes?

I just gave up after an hour... Lol

I also, had low batteries in my remote, so that maybe the issue as well. Lol

No need to call anybody. At one point you need to push the button on the opener itself. (The one hanging on the ceiling. In my case the "purple" learn button.) BMW recommends 2 people to do this unless you are quick to run inside the garage up the ladder and push the button.
Hope it helps.

OK, I just re-programmed my buitin remote for my newly replaced garage unit. Follow these steps exactly and let us know..

(1) Use your original garage remote and press the desired button in the rearview mirror remote - together for 15 seconds atleast

(2) Now go to the unit and press the 'Program' button..you will see an LED blinking..now run to the car and press the same button (the one you had selected earlier) three times..slowly but firmly (hold for atleast 1 seconds each time)

It should work now..

+1. Otherwise, it's such a PITA. Even my owner's manual had the wrong sequence of instructions.
