hello all,
I currently drive an 05 Infiniti G35 Coupe with 49k miles on it and its still under the factory warranty and im looking to get into a car thats a bit bigger which is why ive decided on the 5 series. ive found an 04 525 with about 48k miles on it. The dealer has it listed at 19 which is pretty inflated considering blue book is like 18k. Ive emailed the dealer about doing an even trade, in essence swapping my car out for theirs since my bluebook value is at 20k and even the trade in value is at 18k and he says its something that he could probably do. I ran a carfax report on the car and it all checks out but i want to make sure i don't want to get ripped off. Ive been reading around on this forum and i have seen people say now is the best time to get a really good deal and so my first question to you guys is how much should i offer for the car? and also if there are any problems associated with the 04 models since it was the first year of the E60 and how reliable they are in terms of driving past 100k miles since ill be most likely driving it till it dies on me
thanks to all in advance
Ash

Other than a few things like:

Infiniti to BMW
49K miles to 48K miles
Coupe to Sedan (because you need a bigger car)

What is the advantage of doing a straight swap with your 2005 G35 Coupe to a 2004 525i? The dealer probably bought it for less than Blue Book and he wants to make a tidy profit by selling it at $19K. Your car is listed as $20K Blue Book. The 525i is probably out of warranty and unless the car is CPO'ed, I would have to advise you not to get this particular car. Keep shopping around for something a bit newer and still under warranty or CPO'ed. Shop your G35 around too... for a better price.

I'm sure others will chime in. I've just given you my 2 cents worth~ Good luck!
