I have the same issue and have heard that it cannot. In fact mine looks horrible right now and it may be time for a "rock" to hit my windshield. Then Autolite or whomever does the replacement can put in a new upper seal.

BTW-I have all 3 needing replacement, top of windshield, sunroof seal and rear window seal. Anyone have an aftermarket site they recommend for these seals.

It can be but a little more difficult. If you search this forum there is actually a video on how to do it. I just had mine replaced but had to have the windshield replaced too so all was good. I had actually purchased the seal to install and was waiting and then a rock hit my glass.

Replaced both front and rear seals last year. Took me all of 30 minutes combined, including cleaning. Word of caution...the sun was out and beating down on my windshield making it extremely hot. I was cleaning the remnants of the original gasket from the windshield with cold water from the hose. Minor chips in the windshield and cold water do not mix. I got a new windshield out of the deal plus the replacement of the seal I just replaced. Lesson learned...do not put cold water on a hot windshield.
