Wow. This has got to be one of the best features of the e60 that people didn't realize that they had.

For those that are just discovering this feature, you can also use the blower "on demand" if you are going to be away from the car a short time and want to continue to circulate air while you're gone.
Just select the automatic ventilation feature (I think that's what it's called -- it's just to the left of the parked car ventilation feature in iDrive) before leaving the car. The trick to using it is that you have to select it while the key is in position one, not while the motor is still running...

^^ yes that also makes a huge difference, i used that i don't know how many times on the X5.... one question i have though about PCV is, since this more then likely does not activate the A/C, as that would requre the car the be started, does this not just blow through the outside air? in which case would this not just blow the hot air that is outside already, inside, thus potentially keeping the car at the temperature it was at inside and rendering the feature not worthwhile??? just a question i have always had about the system, i tried it in the winter here (canada) and since the heater does not go on with the PCV feature all it did was make the interior even more cold....
i read in the manual that this is really ment for cars that have smokers who don't want to have the smoke stay inside and so at night or during the day you set it so when you go to get in next, the car has had the bad air passed through and fresh air introduced.
sorry for the looooong post guys lolz

Any outside air will help cool down the interior. The temperature inside your car parked outside on a hot, sunny day can be 50C+ !
BTW, is anybody concerned it will run the battery down with everyday use?

I normally prgram this using voice commands before I get to my destination.
Me-Parked Car operation
Me- Activation time
Car- Would you like to set time1?
Me-Yes
Car- Please say the time
Me - One thirty
Car- Did you say 1.30
Me - Yes
Car-AM or PM
Me -PM
Car- Would you like to activate time1
Me Yes
Car- Parked car ventilation will be switched on at 13.30
This takes less than 30 seconds without taking your eyes of the road and you don't have to sit in the parked car to set it up.
