Thanks to all of you - I was the first one to inform my dealer about the mp3 retrofit.
I took my car in the second "service engine soon" light in a week. Last week they solved the problem by replacing the thermostat - this week they replaced the thermostat again- only this time they consulted the factory tech and they used a metal thermostat. They apparently come from the factory with a plastic one.
While there I presented them a copy of the mp3 service bulliten found on this site - 3 of the SA's had to come look at it to believe it. I enjoyed my newly enabled mp3 radio all the way home!
This is a great site and should be required reading for all BMW SA's!
