With recent USD slide, USD 100K can't even by me a 520i here in sg. Sucks hah!

OMG ! Do u think Singapore is the most expensive place on earth to buy a car??

I doubt so. The prices for cars in Singapore has dropped compared a few years ago. I'm sure there are still some countries that sell cars more expensive than singapore.

It is still 300% of the export price compare to anywhere in the world except what i know to be some countries in the Skandinavian. They also have import tax of 300%.

Singapore still is most expensive place to own car given the ownership certificate and road tax etc.

By the way, not all in the US pay lump sum for their car they lease as well. Cost of ownership is lower.

I will have to get an M5 if I live in the US and a roadster from the spare change.

Ah Crap, what am i saying ?! I meant USD80K for a 530i and USD 100K for the 545 here in HK. I must have been bewitched by former Miss HK.....

Bunbun do You have any idea about prices at mainland?

U mean mainland China? If that's the case, prices should be just a tat bit higher than HK. Then again, I hear they're rolling out E60s at their BMW-China Brilliance JV plant. Locally manufactured E60s should be cheap due to no import taxes. But dont quote me tho.

U dare to drive in mainland China??? I admire your courage and bravery

It's not that the roads are unpaved, it's rather the potential traffic "scams" that played upon foreigners. Some locals will try to stage "accidents" and scam money off foreigners. Since u hv a place there, Im sure you've heard of incidents every now and then?

Sometimes even us HK'ers fall into these scams and the "police" are sometimes in on them scam. Just be extra weary of your surroundings

Has been, has seen, has happend... And it's not nice.

Most of the time it's driver (company's) who will drive, but because normaly they have only Santanas or similar, I thought that maybe little more glamour is needed. I have spend so long there that I don't afraid to drive even with motorbike in there. You know if it happens it happens. So what, it was decided?

Or maybe I can dress my wife as a driver (that would be nice change for bedroom life? ) and I can sit back and sip alcohol drinks.

Shanghai-Nanjing area is not so bad than Canton area or Beijing. But still have to be extra carefull compared Central/Northen-Europe.

Still I like there more than here (Ireland).

3 months ago when i was back in spore, 545i was still unavailable. It's available now huh ? hmm.. $317000 sounds pricey to me. I would rather get 645ci instead. Have you seen any 545i on the road yet ?

I would get Z8 and M6 instead. . Consider migrating to US then. Singapore is too small for you to enjoy your car ride.
