A friend's 2004 Audi AllRoad had this feature.? Some of our parking spaces in the States can be pretty tight too - I would like the feature.? I think some new U.S. BMWs have/will have it.

My cousin he use to have a 1994 Nissan Bluebird (a Maxima in NA) and they have folding mirrors back then, so when I say the technology of folding mirrors in Euro cars is new, it is. But I do understand some space is tight in NY but you have not been to Hong Kong. I don't need the PDC in Canada but can't live without it here.

I think the US spec '06 E90's have it. I thought the US spec '06 E60's would have it too.

[quote name='ZinMe' date='Oct 10 2005, 06:44 PM']Wait.?? Is this tread saying that BMW went to the trouble of installing a motor as part of each mirror assembly that folds the whole assembly against the window and yet they disabled it for the US????? This sounds nuts so perhaps I'm missing something (as usual.)

Mirrors are motorised for folding, can be switched from inside the car..all do this when the option is fitted to your car, what the thread is saying is that they should fold either automatically when you lock the doors, or when you hold the "lock" button on the Key...

Either of the latter would be cool

The new E90 3 Series includes the folding mirrors with the premium package, but no luck for the E60 according to the dealer.

Electric folding mirrors are very popular with Japanese cars (don't know who invented this maybe the Japanese cos folding mirror on Euro cars are quite new on the market compare to Japanese car)? Usually found on Asian or Euro spec cars because of the limited space (=small parking space) we have comparing to America.? If you don't have folding mirrors sometimes is impossible to get out of the car without hitting someone's mirror.? So I think for US spec. cars they don't offer this feature cos no one fold in their mirrors and there is no need to.? So no motor in your mirror, just like E39.

I beg to differ - Most of the big upper end SUV's have this feature. I use it everytime I pull mine in the garage - could not get it in without folding them.

I have never seen the folding mirror info in the owners manual, which I did read. I would love if my E60 had the feature, because I barely clear on a single garage door width.

I think I need to make a call tomorrow to my SA. However, I have a feeling we got left out.

Can anyone confirm if this feature is possible just when you lock the car without having to hold down the lock button for a couple of seconds?

Yes, my dealer did it to mine but i didn't liked it, and change it back to "Hold the lock button"
There are three selections:

1)Folding when lock.
2)Folding when hold the lock button or keep turning right the key on the door lock.
3)No folding.
