Yeh the keyfob can start the car without needing to have the metal key inserted.

subterFUSE had it right from the beginning...
amigo525, when you use the fob without the metal key, think of yourself as a valet. You have full access to unlock the doors and start/drive the car but if the "owner" that has the metal key locked the trunk or the glovebox, you'd be unable to access them.
It has nothing to do with the emergency key thingy in the glovebox.
