I bought the complete set from Sears as a package which includes, creepers, stands and wheel stoppers etc. Now I am confused after opening the package, It has a 2 ton floor jack. It looks small, will it do the job for 525XI? I don't want to risk anything. I heard that some attachment is available for our cars.
Can some one help me with
1. The capacity of the jack required ( Is 2 TON sufficient?)
2. Floor Jack attachments for BMW if available
Thanks

I have the same floor jack and yes it is sufficient. It's not lifting the weight of the whole car at once you see.
I use wood blocks sometimes between the jack and the pad. It works without too though.

its kinda hard with your jack, but the easiest is to jack the front up with the center jack point. then put jack stands on the side lift points, or under the control arms. you may need to drive your front wheels onto some blocks of wood if you cant fit your jack under.
personally i would return that jack and get a full length jack...one that pivots at the rear instead of midpoint.
and whatever jack you use, either use a hockey puck between the car and jack, or cut some thick rubber and fill the jack cup....that way you help avoid damaging your car with the jack cup.

is that a low profile jack? if not you might not be able to fit it underneath the front to lift it up from the center jacking point. Also, you will definitely need a small block of wood or jack adapter to insert in it since the jack head seems a bit small. I think Rizbel posted a link to the jack adapter in the DIY secion of the tranny fluid change thread. Take a look at that one. I just used a small block of wood.
My floor jack is 3 ton and each of my jack stand is 2 ton only so I think you're good to go on the weight department.

I have both jack pad and the jack stand pads...in fact, I got my low profile floor jack and jack stands there too. Quality is decent enough for me to use fixing the little things with my car.

Thank you for all the replies. I bought this one during last thanks giving sale and paid around $29.00 I believe. I am not planning on returning it. However I will look for a better jack if this does not do the job. I am also planning on making a pad and let us see how it goes. I will update the outcome..
