I know most of you do not like the Dunlop RFT's but again, they saved my ass. I was doing about 80 mph on the 405 freeway and I ran over what looked like a metal/plastic plate from a construction pylon. Needless to say, I hit that thing so hard and fast I thought for sure I had damage to my rim or shocks...it was extremely loud and my front driver side tire went flat within seconds. I just continued my speed and never even stopped to look at it. When I arrived at my clients home (about 10 miles later), we looked and the entire side wall was cracked open (about 1/4 inch wide) My clients were amazed that I was able to drive on it. It's an interesting feeling driving on RFT's with no air pressure...they really handle well (even at high speeds with a cracked side wall). The peace of mind these tires give me are well worth every penny.

Ya thats the only reason to have RFTs...
myself, ive done i would think in excess of 600,000 miles in my time and never had a blow out. closest ive come was years ago when a side wall failure allowed a 'balloon' to occur in the sidewall the size of a tennis ball. I discovered it because of the knocking in the steering - it was on the inside wall and striking the suspension strut!
cheers

I just ordered new run flats after considering going with regular tires. But on my way home from a ball game Sunday on I-20 I thought I had a flat due to some strange noise (sounded like riding on a rumble strip) although the flat tire warning never went off. I pulled over to have a look and all was fine. However, with traffic speeding by at 80+ MPH I decided I would not want to be stuck there trying to change a flat, so I ordered the run flats for the piece of mind.
