Funny I was going to say about this method. I guess Ray pretty much stressed out what was on my mind. I mean the fact that the cost of our E60's are well over $50k shouldn't it be squeek/rattle free in the first place? I don't disagree with this method, IMO it's more like just masking the problems instead of fixing it. What ya think?
This is a very old and crude remedy, and I thought that BMW was quite specific saying NOT to apply lubricants to door seals. I dunno, but this technique can help certain kinds of squeeks. I first saw it done 30 years ago to a noisy power steering drive belt--to heck with the induced slippage...lol
Shouldn't last too long though....

Fix 99% of all rattles
1) apply WD40 on a cloth and clean all your door seals both the ones on the door and the ones on the car body.
2) using the plastic straw that comes with the WD40 apply some between the rear seats and the parcel shelf
dont worry if you get some stains on the parcel shelf they soon dry out!!!
3) spray some WD40 under your seats. On the metal base that holds your seat in place.
4) apply some WD40 round the small vents on the dashbord that blow air on the side windows.
Then drive your car. You will not believe your ears.
Cheers and Merry Christmas to all

I will have to try the WD40 as pushing cloth ( cut up old socks ) between top of seat back and parcel shelf made creaking worse. The temp tonight is minus 3degrees Celcius which doesn't help. I can't stand the creaking much longer - a trip to dealers seems inevitable.
