When I bought my 2004 used it had the TCU unit but it needed to be activated with a software update. Dealer charged me 1 hour labor to program it and they had the car all day long. Make sure your phone is compatible with BMW and you should be good to go after the update.

Yeah guys, it looks like it's not fitted in the car, with the high VRT (vehicle registration tax)in Ireland, which is 30% of the cost of the car, manufacturers seem to keep equipment to a minimum in order to keep the cost of the car down. For example, a new Range Rover Vogue in Ireland sells for 110,000 euro with 34,000 euro going to the government in the form of VRT (vehicle registration tax)
