Oh, beautiful car. Enjoy it?

Please post a pic of your BMW C1 as well if you can. Bet the Americans have never seen anything like it?

I've seen it. A friend has one in Milan. Some of us actually make it off the continent.

As an aside, his friends make fun of him for owning it...

Iceman,

Why is the diesel dirty? From what I've heard they are cleaner than petrol engines. Much less CO2 and with the Particle filter there should be almost no particles.

That discussion is way too difficult for my english.

Agreed on the CO?. But it seems, according to some NGO's, the particle filter is not as good as it should be and it is not just about particles... There are other problems...

I'm not so into the details anymore as I used to be when I've been a press spokesman for Greenpeace. A lot of things did change, like he particle filter... But from what I hear there are still problems, making Diesel still a dirty fuel.

But, hey... As a driver... Who cares? If you care about the environment, you were walking or riding a bike...

This is actually the truth.
And what drives me nuts about it is that the car manufacturers could build Diesels that are not worse than petrol engines. But they won't...

There has been lot of discussion about EURO5 diesels. Some manufacturers say that they are so expensive to build that when EURO5 comes diesels will die away. With petrol engine EURO5 is not any problem, same source says.

Lets see!

YOU as a SPOKEPERSON for GREEN...... I can't even say the word! And now You drive with big, polluting, V8 car. You former friends must be furious!

Problem is really the particles and NOx, compared to petrol. Particle filters typically needs to burn (or othewise clean) soot away time to time and that is one problem. Other is NOx where catalyzator is needed and to make catalyzator work efectively it needs ammonia (urea or similar). Those chemicals has tendency to freeze in low temperatures, so warming of system is needed or antifreeze, which again brings own problems for the system chemistry.

But as the man says if You really are concerned about our enviroment You will walk.

PS from GP governments should take away running water, heating and all public services which consume natural resources. Also meat, leather clothes and shoes, no photos (gelatine in process) and all which consume something from animal kingdom. Maybe all flora and fauna should be taken away too!
