Explanation
cubby hole---small storage compartment for securing or hiding items, called a dooket here in glasgow
usage: there's a wee dooket for keys on the dashboard
other answers....yes, there are rear ashtrays, just no lighter or power socket.
the nav dvd is europe 2004-2 and navbabe has a slightly american accent.
Teletext is not there but the TMC function is fantastic, overlaying the map with congestion and other motoring details and offering to re-route etc
TV Sound stays on if you drive picture blanks .....good fun iin heavy traffic

Congratulations DD !! your car looks fantastic, I enjoyed the nice interior and exterior color combinations.
My nav dvd is europe 2004-1.
Do you know where (web sharing, web buy site, dealer) is it possible to get it??
I'm very happy your waiting is terminated; new era is opening: drive, drive , drive.
When I got my baby in february, my first drive was a usual 230 km work trip at the end of which I thought: no tired at all and the temptation was great to go ahead for another 200-300 km only for the fun of driving, never happened so intensive with previous cars.

Doc D,
Love the ride. BTW, Good colour choice.
Could you post pics of Origin B2 when it's installed. Are you going to do this yourself or get someone else to do it? Interested to hear where you wire the GPS antenna and where you hide the cables.
Cheers.

Will do, I'm still thinking about the B2 install, I hope to have the gps antenna under the rear parcel shelf or if needs be, on top of it., As far as the unit itself goes, I'm still unsure, It might be nice to try an install where the ashtray is but I'm still thinking about that one. I won't bother with the laser sensor as once it fires, your got anyway and I think its pretty unsightly.
Discovered there is NO teletext function with the E60....Boo!

Well done Sir! Glad you have finally been put out of your misery!
Fantastic colour. All interior bits and bobs look the same as mine.
You did well to get the ?190 off the invoice for the voice. Although I suppose it;s good news that it's approx cost will not be too high when they finally release it.
Are you a DVD burner wizz? I'd love to get 2004-2

Congrats DrD,
Back off a 2 week holiday in the Med. Boy, did I miss my car.......
What do you think about the sport steering wheel ? Great grip, isn't it ? But if you're tall like me it does overlap the instrument panel a bit.
Happy motoring.
DrT
By the way, what made you change to an X3 for the Mrs ?

Nice car DD,
I have clocked up 19,000+ miles on mine since launch day and apart from a couple of software upgrades no serious problems.
I see that the rear centre console has a maple insert under the vent control/outlet.. mine has a useful cubby hole here.
Just wish I had the particle filter to save that 3% tax mark up on company car!
Enjoy the drive

Congratulations.
You must think in holidays in the south of Portugal (Algarve), with a power train like that it's easy to get here.....
