First Oil Change
Just to make all you folks getting those free oil changes feel better, if you need to feel better....
My dealer here in Germany charges 200 euro which at todays exchange rate is a little over 255 dollars
If you bring your own oil the charge for the filter and labor is 50 euro or about 65 dollars. So it cost me a little over 100 bucks for a fresh tank of Mobil 1
Something interesting - I showed up with my 8.5 qts of 5W-30 just like the owners manual says only to find out I bought the wrong weight
The dealer informed me they needed 0W-30 and sent me out in a loaner to make the exchange.
You may want to make a note for when your day comes.

BMW approves 5W-30 and 0w-30
In cold regions its best to use 0W-30
The latest BMW requirements LL04 ( Long life 2004 ) which were set for
the new magnesium engines, and which is compatable with most older engines has made castrol release "Castrol SLX LL04" which is 0W-30
Dealers here used Castrol TXT LL01 5W-30 exclusively for non //M engines, and will switch to the new LL04 oils when available
