I've never seen some1 disappointed when they test-drove 545i. It's no doubt a great car. How i wish i can get that car.. 225hp is never enough for me

When I got my E39 530 years back, my salesman gave me very good aadvice. Price the car first to see what you can afford. If you cannot afford the bigger engine, do not test drive it. I could not afford the 540 and did not drive it. I drove the 525 and 530. After driving both, there was no way I could take the 525. Had I drove the 540, but been forced to take the 530 for monetary reasons, I wojld have been disappointed.
This time, I test drove the 530 and 545. Needless to say, I am in the 545. The 530 is still a great car, but once you feel thedifference in power, it is hardto go back,

After 6,000 miles on my 545, I still look forward to every chance to drive it. It is an awesome car. The build quality of my 5er has been excellent. No problems. No flaws. The 545 is highly recommended.

545 - enough said. If you can afford it, you have to get it. Price is the only factor if you want to own the Ultimate Driving Machine.

I brought this up in the "Upgrade from 530 to 545 or not" thread. In similarly equipped 530/545s will there still be a big difference in performance between the two when the R6 engine comes out?
It makes me believe that a 550 is in our future so that there is a clear delineation in performance between the two models to justify the price gap.

CVTbenhogan - if you get a chance test drive a 545i with the SMG before you put in your order. If you thought driving it with the steptronic was fun ...
!!! By the way, ED was fantastic.

I love the power of the 545. My only problem is the steptronic, I am always driving in DS mode. I should have got a manual! It's what I had on my MY02 530. I find the D regular mode in steptronic downshifts too early, I like to keep those revs high so I can feel the power.
