Couldn't find this after doing some research so I decided to post it here.

I get false trunk open sign in my 2006 525i.

When I start driving it gives me light and sound warning that the trunk is open. But I know for sure it's not open. Also, when I lock my car with remote, it does not give me the sound confirmation (beeping once) and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the trunk.

I'm guessing it has to do with wiring. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

I just had this...If you open the trunk and look to the left and right side at the bottom of the lid. You will notice a round black plastic\rubber cushion that you can screw in and out to adjust. It acts sort of like a bumper and maybe it needs to be screwed in for it to make the lid close down more so the sensor will see the trunk is closed. Try playing with it.

It didn't do anything. Anyone else had this problem?

I had a similar problem once in awhile, all I do is open the trunk and close it again. It seems to work all the time.

I had license plate lighting issues that turned out to be wires fraying where they pass into the right hinge (near the car battery) through a rubber stopper. *IF* the trunk sensor is in the trunk lid, please double check the wires and fix if necessary. Check my message history, I posted a pic of the mess I found. Good luck!
