The lower portion of the rear bumper looks more like the M sport kit (or whatever it's called) bumper--it's missing the lower lip. I actually like the look of the lip.

What?s up with the keyhole on the trunk lid? The area around the license plate looks different.
Reminds me of the M5, slightly

It looks like a convex surface rather than the current concave one. The M5 piece is flat (relatively).

Just spotted this thread. Damn it will have to sell my three month old 530i now. The new one looks so special.

The stories about the proposed facelift for the five are also surfacing in the UK motoring press, they reported on the front fender change and on minor twicks to the rear fender. Some engines (3 litre diesel) have already gone through changes for the 2006 model year. The likely change will be to the 3.0i which is no fast 0-60 than the 3.0d but does not have the same fuel economy. The 2.5d will also likely see some changes.

The E-Class (my last car) definely needs changes as it had massive falls in sales in 2005. For a start it needs to be reliable and have better interior dash materials.

BMW had their best year ever in the UK last year and the five beat the E-Class easily, the five still looks freash whereas the E-Class definately looks dated.

Finally you NEVER see a white five in the UK, the car would never resell here.

sorry to ask but where did you read this ? im concerned as to the reliability of this considering that the new 3.0i engine has allready been introduced for the late 2005 /2006 model range

Yeah, I regard the 3.0i upgrade rumors as really really dubious information. The new I6 engine (N52) is the bread and butter engine - more than 50% of all BMWs produced will have that engine (so say BMW). It's not the sort of thing that gets re-engineered often, and it just was. I wouldn't rule out a turbo, but the N52 will still be there just as is for quite a while.

The changes look very minor to me
I think that only E60 drivers would be able to tell the difference....doubt that other people would even notice

Just thought I'd jump and throw out this futile observation or mirage, but did anyone else notice or mention that in the spyphoto in the original link, it looks like they moved the fog/driving lights towards the center more. Almost inline with the outer edge of the kidney grill. I'm not positive of this, but I downloaded the photo from the link, increased the brightness to the photo to define the edges more and it kind of looks like the fog/driving lights were moved. If they did, I don't like it....If not, oh well, I've been needing some glasses
