What rear lip? I don't see a difference yet...
The lower portion of the rear bumper looks more like the M sport kit (or whatever it's called) bumper--it's missing the lower lip. I actually like the look of the lip.

The lip on the bottom of the standard bumper. It appears missing from the alleged face lift bumper.

I see it now. Thanks for clarifying that one. (I was looking at the decklid, not down at the bottom.)

I prefer the appearance of the current 5 Series front and rear bumpers. Change for the sake of change.

The rear end looks like an improvement, not a drastic change but it looks a little more rounded, and to me looks a little better proportioned than the current back end. Hopefully this will be like the 7 series facelift, a few minor changes contributing more than the sum of the parts to a nicer overall design and feel. It's certainly a case of not needing to fix anything that's broken with the E60 (I also thought that about the 7 but the recent facelift has made changes for the better)). This looks like a minor revision which is (in my view) all the E60 needs. I'm betting there are more interior and feature changes than styling changes on the this update.

I believe that the BM is scheduled for 2007 facelift, as far as the E-class is concerned it feels very old to me now. It must be the taxi image or the fact that there are so many around. Did it come out a lot before the 5?

Can't really tell the difference. Good. I don't feel too bad.

The wheels on e class are so small, 16"?

The photos are too dark.

In connection with this tread, I was talking to a dealer two weeks ago and he bought up the refresh subject. He thought a minor refresh for the 5er would occur this year. I thought nuts. Anyway, he said the lower facia on the front bumper would be the most notable change. Instead of the long downward U intake slit (non-smile), it would be reversed for upward U (smile) slit. Killing the ole mean pumpkin look to some degree. LOL He mentioned it was the recent 7 refresh trickling down. Not a pleasant thought. I recall this was done with the old three series before as well. Minor stuff. Not sure if we discussed the rear bumper.

Regardless, I like it the way it is.

I really doubt BMW would do a facelift so minor. We all own these cars and are struggling with the differences.

There is only one fact. The E60 looks INCREDIBLE in white. Damn you Rudy - you could make a person second guess their color choice!

Why? On E39, the 2001 facelift was only the front bumper (and a change to the headlights and taillights, though not the physical shape of them).

We can see the differences when they're pointed out; e.g., the front and rear bumper are different, which is very typical for BMW. I have no problem believing something like this represents a possible facelift, and I'm glad it's not a major one (and no sheet metal changes).

Actually the side trim went to body color in 2001 - so it was noticable IMHO. I just think these changes we are seeing are so minor they would hardly be called a face lift.
