Well you seem to have left the CAPS LOCK down on your keyboard - maybe you forgot to release the handbrake on your car?

Interesting stats. My diesel does 0-60 in low 6s, and 1/4 mile in 14.2. We haven't yet got a 545i to line up against a diesel Maybe next summer.
They did it on Top Gear -

CAN SOME 1 TELL ME HOW I GOT MY ASS HANDED TO ME BY MY FRIENDS G35 SEDAN AND NOT JUST O-60 IM TALKING ABOUT UP TO 110 MPH. HES NOT A GOOD DRIVER IT WAS A STR8 AWAY AND I STILL LOST.I WILL NEVER TRUST ANY CAR MAG STATS AGAIN...... OH AND BY THE WAY I HAVE A 545 SMG WITH B&B EXHAUST AND K N FILTER.

You lost because of the SMG.

The SMG seriously makes the car slower in a race. Steptronics are way faster.

I have the SMG, and any time I shift gears.... any automatic car next to me gets a jump on me while my car shifts.

Care to explain why do you think smg makes the car slower than a steptronic one? General slower or only drag from standstill? Cuz the way i see it i always thought smg is a tad faster than steptronic in shift times, and the brake torque u can do with a steptronic is equaled by an AA in the smg.

Check out the Straight-Line Performance thread. The gearing of the Step is far superior to both the SMG and the manual (which are the same) for straight-line performance. And, yes, the SMG or manual should shift faster. This faster-ness is more than offset by the difficulty in getting good starts with a amanual or SMG (and its other shifting idosycratics). And, the evidence appears to be that the faster shifting can't begin to offset the gearing factor regardless of how good one's start is.

I understand. Take a look at posts 13, 21, and 26 specifically.

The problem is that the SMG shifts slowly, particularly in the Normal Mode.

I have a 545i SMG.

I do not often race anybody on the road (I don't ever feel the need to prove anything).... but in general, when I drive I do tend to drive slightly faster than everyone else around me.

Let's consider what happens to me when I am at a traffic light, next to another car..... let's say a Hyundai with automatic transmission.

Light turns green, and I step on the gas. Typically, my car will take a second to get moving because I'm not trying to floor it.... so the gear slips in smoothly. Once my clutch has desengaged, however..... it is clear my car has the power advantage, and I begin to pull ahead.

Then I shift into 2nd gear. When I shift, the car loses acceleration, and pauses while the gear changes and the clutch releases again. During this time, which is more than a full second in SMG normal mode, the car just rolls along while the Hyundai next to me gets a big jump. This is because the Hyundai doesn't lose acceleration for a full second while shifting from 1st into 2nd.

Once I'm in gear, I can hit the gas and it's obvious my car has power..... but during those shifts, any automatic car gets a jump on me.

So it's not just that Steptronics are faster..... basically, what I am saying is that any automatic transmission car out there could probably make an SMG E60 look bad, at least in Normal SMG mode.

Sport Mode makes a big difference. Shifts about 4 times as fast from 1st into 2nd. But I still think a Steptronic would toast an SMG.

if that is the case...Then please do explain how a G35 handed your balls on a silver plate? If turns at high speeds were involved...Then you would and should have won..If it was a straight away and for somone reason you have a great deal of weight resistance that maybe a factor...Besides that driving method might be the case?
point of clarity...it was his ass not his balls handed to him
