+1...Which also means you lose the adaptive headlight cornering feature as well. It makes no sense at all. So auto HL means no eyebrow, but HL ON means eybrow but no adaptive headlight. What a bunch of crap. Anybody try this with an 08 or 09 E60? Wonder if someone has caught onto this...
I have a '08 porduction car and what you wrote is spot on.

Its another case example of BMW logic going to the dogs. Same allies to their "auto" rain sensor. I still think its stupid that it does a dry wipe every single time I turn it on before I head out on my journey.

I suspect where BMW in the past have developed most of their own systems, these days they are sharing technology. All manufacturers then just pay royalty for the rights to use the technology in their own cars as a cost cutting measure in their R&D.

cheers

I know so me of you are talking about 08 and 09; however, for the other folks...I have a 05 545i when I got mine the eyebrow were not on so I took it to the dealer and they did the software update. Now...I have eyebrown, angel eyes and adaptive headlight cornering they all come on when I turn on the lights. And all the function works and I have on auto and when it gets dark they all come on and they all work, I am not sure what some of you are talking about...if eyebrowns and AE are on my cornering lights works and when my AE comes on my eyebrowns comes on as well!!!

A *lot* of systems like this are developed by Bosch in Germany. They (Merc/BMW/Audi-VW-Porsche) tend to keep quiet about it. Not that it's a secret, they just never mention the word Bosch when they're talking about their great ABS, DSC, Auto Wiper, Auto Light type systems.

Example: http://www.bosch.com/assets/en/company/inn...ion/theme03.htm

"In 1978 Bosch was the world?s first automotive supplier to present an ABS system ready for mass production. By October that year, the ABS 2 was available on the market for the first time in S-Class cars from Mercedes-Benz. Integration in the BMW 7 series followed in December."

Thanks. That confirms what I have been thinking. I prefer the 'logic' of some of the devices in my older E39 than on the E60. My E39 had the phone system and it was a joy to use. Easy to plug in the SIM, either use hands-free or pick up the phone for privacy (ofcourse after pulling off the road). The displayed dial on the screen was quick to use and if memory serves me right, I could read sms's which in this E60 I cant. If it is possible, I haven't come across it yet. !!

cheers
