Since the break hit soon after I dropped off my car, my car is still in the shop cause my SA went on vacation. I'll get to speak with my SA sometime today and see whats going on.

I called a local BMW specialist, and the part and labor was $120. WOW the dealer is insane to try and charge me $560.

The local BMW specialist said its recommended to change all six ignition coils, which would come out to a lot at $120 a piece.

I just realized...before my warranty was up, I brought my car to BMW cause I had some trouble starting my car, and some other problems. I had to press my start button more than once to get it going. If they have record of this would the manufactures warranty still cover it???

What after-market warranty company do you use?

Some dealerships charge an hourly labor rate that is more than what the warranty company will pay for. Some dealerships "favor" certain warranty companies over others based on preference or past history. I don't agree with any of this but it is what it is.

Best thing to do is ask your warranty company what (if any) locations they recommend based on previous claims. When getting the repairs, make it clear with the repair shop that they will be getting paid from your warranty company before they start working on your car. This way the most you will be on the hook for is the diagnosis should there be any issue with cost/payment.

Im with Coverage One, my deductible is 200. They said they would cover only 245 dollars of the labor and repair. The rest i guess im responsible for. They said they tried negotiating with my SA but he wouldn't budge. The said they will send me a check for 45 dollars...

I asked the SA to look for past records of me coming in for ignition failure (trouble starting engine). I had trouble starting the engine on the 1st push of the ignition. I would have to push a 2nd or 3rd time to get the engine running. This all happened before warranty was up, and I recall going in for it... If its related to the faulty ignition coils, hopefully BMW will cover it and I wont have to go through my extended warranty.
