My Ride: Retired 2008 535i Titanium-silver with sport, premium, steptronic, NAV, HUD
Retired 2006 525i
I recently made the dumb desicion of upgrading my stock 225/50/17 to staggered 245/40/18 and 275/35/18. I even bought the size 18 staggered wheels but have been quite dissapointed. Those tires are so wide that on the roads of South-East Arkansas (read: Rural America) these tires constantly slip from one side of the road to another.
Not only that but I have to constantly hold the steering at 10 degrees to the left in order to keep the car from drifting to the right.
Where's all the fun gone? I may as well be driving my wife's Corolla
Can these tires be mounted on my old stock wheels
BTW I have an 06 non-sport 525i

You sure these were balanced correctly? In terms of the 18" wheels, did you get the correct offset? You buy OEM wheels or aftermarket? This sounds odd to me. Seems as though it should work, regardless if you have a non-sport car.
Anyone else know why he's experiencing this, other that what I mentioned?

Aparently the offset is right. The wheels are supposed to be OEM. I got them used from this forum.

why did you buy staggered wheel you don`t need them on a 525i, I got the same car and I have 19/35/245 all round which is very good for grip and MPG.
these tires will not fix on your 17" rim you will need 18" rim so sorry to say you stuck with them unless you change them.

You should probably get a wheel alignment. The settings may be different for larger, staggered wheels. Your dealer may not be the best place to do this since they may be constrained to setting it up to factory specifications, but your car may require something custom now that you have altered it.

The money you spent on all these items. You can probably buy one with sports package that comes with 18" wheels.

My Ride: 07 BMW 525i Premium Package, Xenon Lighting Package, manual Transmission. Titanium Grey, 20% Tint around the back, 70% V-Kool on front.
Planned mods: Style 71 wheels with Toyo Proxy 4 tires, Sachs suspension upgrade, upgraded stereo, and many more to come.
are these run flat tires? Is this the stock 124 wheels with run flats that comes with the 545/550 sport package?
this doesn't sound right, alot of us have 245 up front and 275 on back (myself included, i got 19"), and although it is quite wide and it stick to the road, I find the handling is great during cornering, and feels very stable. I have a 07 525i non sport also.
Let us know the details of the setup (what wheels, brand/condition of tires), and we can try to give some more suggestions. Something just doesn't sound right....
