Don't know if I am making a big deal out of nothing, but I have a 535i no quad exhaust just OEM stock exhaust which looks like this ===> OO the left tip has black stuff on it and the right tip is clean as new. my car has 50k on the clock...it is normal?

please let me know!

thanks!

I think the right tip has a valve that closed when your going faster? Not sure....

It seems like my left tip always has a small bit of black "exhaust dust" on it...and other one doesn't. I have a buddy with a 335, and his is the same. I not at all worried about it, but it is odd.

My car has the same thing - exhaust soot on the left side and the right side is clean. I see that on almost every E60/61 5 series. Is there a reason for this?

The one pipe has a valve inside to control sound and only opens after a certain rpm. You can pull those tips off to clean them.
