Exhaust Tip Discoloration

Mods: Trinity Side Skirts|Trinity Black Grilles|LCI Tail Lights with Bruce V6|Fog Light Bezel Rings|MTEC V2 Angel Eyes|LED License Plate Lights
My friend has a 2008 535xi and noted that one of the two exhaust tips is getting dark. Is it normal for one tip to get markedly dirtier than the other?

Yes... under normal driving conditions, the left pipe is used. Under hard acceleration and high speed, the right pipe opens up to reduce backpressure. Its normal to see the black soot around the left tailpipe and not the right one. I use a chemical cleaner/polish like Klasse All-In-One to clean the black buildup off the chrome tips. Works great. A little mineral spirits or other solvent should work as well.

if it is real bad, you might try "never dull"
