Engine vibration
#1
I have had a consistant engine vibration on my '04 530 during the winter months. It is most noticeable at around 1200 RPM. Now that the warmer weather has hit the Northeast the vibration seems to have disappeared. I am wondering if anyone else has this problem and solved it. Also, does anyone know how the choke works in this car? Perhaps the problem has something to this. Thanks.

I'd say, based on experience, that the most likely source of this symptom is your battery not being topped up. Depending on your driving style, it can be hard to maintain a good/perfect charge during the cold season.
Choke? I hope not

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
I have been going through a similar thing with a 545i. I have a noticed vibration at 1200/1400/1800-2200.
To make a long story short, there are alot of things that can cause this. The V-8's and I am sure the sixes have certain harmonics also. The question is, is it normal or not. The best thing to do is try another car with the same transmission. I have found the harmonics to be much more noticable with a manual over an automatic.
The fuel injection systems do not have your typical choke, but they do vary the fuel mixture based on engine and ambient temperatures (just like a choke would), but are much more precise.
