Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone dared to do a 5 series engine swap on this forum. Chop999 is selling his 535xi engine and I was wondering if it would fit perfectly in my 2005 530i with no other modifications such as transmission etc. I have a manual transmission and I wouldnt be needing to replace that right or any other parts? Im extremely interested> Please help! THANKS

I would ask both a BMW mechanic and a mechanic at another garage of your choice also. Nobody on this forum will be able to give you a definitive answer...

my guess is that it would be easier and cheaper to get a turbo or supercharger for the m54 rather than doing a swap. The FI units made for the e46 330 vehicles will work for e60 530's as well.

Seems to me that the swap would be ridiculously expensive when you include the ongoing troubleshooting (because warranty is out the window). It just seems easier to trade in your car for the 535i and get the engine and warranty you want.

It will work, but the problem is which shop can make it work? i know a mechanic in jersey, he swap out engine from newer porsche to his older porsche and made it worked, but not every mechanic knows how
and the labor cost? will be cheaper if you trade in for 535
