Collected my car yesterday and she's finally back to normal. It started out where the car would stumble and shake and had no power. Eventually the check engine light illuminated... I thought it might be the HPFP but that was replaced already and it turned out to be the low pressure fuel sensor. I hear this is up under the intake somewhere. Anyway, it's a three hour repair and will set you back around $450.00 at the Stealer...

I was absolutely shocked when they told me that my battery should be replaced and the cost would be $654.00... They discovered a few codes that indicated it should be replaced. I've had no problems with it but I guess i should go ahead and replace it on my terms instead of waiting for it to crap out. During the conversation the SA mentioned the battery cost is ~ $259.00. So, now I am thinking where in the heck is the other cost going to? Ok, install, maybe 30 minutes. Programming, again, maybe 30 minutes... But $400.00 labor to install and program? I will most likely take the Interstate battery that is the same and get it programmed at a Indy shop.

My 535 had the same issue and is driving better that new since they replaced (or cleaned?) the low speed sensor. They also replaced the front brake pads and sensors but did nothing to the routers. It seems that since BMW is paying for it they due the minimum.

Oh I did already. I don't seem to have a battery problem, but if I start to see any signs I will for sure replace it. But not at their price thats is crazy!

Hey, just curious, was this mostly when car was cold? Rough idle, hesitation, almost stalling? Then when warm, check engine light may or may not stay on, and symptoms went away?

Were you throwing misfire codes?

i would go to Auto Zone or something first before you have the dealer replace your battery. its a lot cheaper obviously. you shouldnt have to program it. just try to find one with a 750CCA or higher (the factory one is 900CCA), it worked for me. i paid $150 for a 750CCA battery a couple years ago and its working just fine, no programming necessary.
