Hey everyone,

My car has recently had a problem. The engine seems to be shaking really hard when I'm in idle and even when I drive. I plugged in a scanner and it gave me code P0302. Originally I thought I had also recieced code P1511 but its actually P1151, which is a disa control crcuit electrical problem. Is the problem for the disa control circuit the plug you disconnect when you remove the disa from your engine?

I've also tried to remove my engine covers to see what might be the problem but I don't know how to remove the strut thingy (white box) to get to the back of the cover. Is there an easier way to remove the cover? I can seem to remove the last bolt because the strut thing is in the way.

That plastic cover (shown in your picture) comes right off by lifting straight up. Notches in that plastic cover keeps it in place.

If I were you, I 'd attack one problem at a time. First address the cylinder misfire issue - very likely, ignition coil is bad. To be sure the ignition coil is the culprit, swap the ignition coil on cylinder 2 with some other one and see if the misfire 'migrates' to the new cylinder.

After taking care of the misfire issue (replacement of the ignition coil), clear the codes and see if the other code comes back.

Hopefully it is just the coil pack. Lets say I swap my #2 coil with my #1 coil, should I clear the codes on my car to see if the problem follows? My frend suggested I should leave the codes so if I do take it to an indy shop they'll have a little more info on the problem. Lastly if I change the coil would the car be able to recognize the fix and clear itself of the code or would I have to erase the code?

 

Write down the code(s) that's currently recorded.
Then, erase the codes. If the coil is bad, the code(s) will definitely come back.

After replacing the ignition coil, the code should go away.
