"Engine Malfunction - Reduced Power" - Velocity

The "Engine Malfunction - Reduced Power" warning light popped up today. It only appeared when I had my Velocity unit on and went away when it was off. The warning is now gone even with the Velocity unit on. I am concerned that continuing to drive with the Velocity on could cause some damage.
Does anyone have a similar experience with this warning light coming on due to the Velocity controller?

Do a transmission reset by holding down the gas for 20 seconds. Put the car in the 2nd position, where the engine is NOT on.
