the car is an auto 550i with 110k miles. and trans has always worked good.
so i decided to launch my car today on a backroad. i turned off the traction and stability control.
and from a dead stop i floored it. the tires broke loose for a bit, and when the car went to shift into second gear, the engine hit the rev limiter and cutoff for a split second. the 2nd to 3rd and so on shifts were ok. the engine seems to rev near 7k rpm before it shifts.
is this something to be concerned about? like i said, the trans has never skipped a beat before, and is original and had fluid changed about 10k miles ago.

I'd say not to worry about it as long as you don't make a habit of flooring it in 1st gear. Your 110K transmission is probably not performing as crisply as a newer one, and this will likely get worse, not better. The rev limiter is protecting your engine, but you might still blow the tranny.

I did recently follow the DIY and replaced my fuel filter. I wonder if the car is getting more fuel flow now and maybe has to readjust?? Car does seem a bit quicker afterwards.
