Within the last couple days, some strange things have been happening. My horn will go off briefly randomly. Also, the radio will randomly switch from FM to AM. I currently have the passenger restraint error due to two sensors in the bumper that failed. Are these related? Also noticed that some of the buttons on the steering wheel do not respond, as well as not light up during night time driving.

Sounds like the wiring harness that goes to the steering wheel horn and buttons is either shorting out or damaged in some way.

Anybody go through this process? Am I better off going to a dealership and having this diagnosed? Only reason why I hesitate is because I brought it in for the passenger restraint fault thinking it was part of the recall, but came back to a $170 electrical diag charge because of the two sensors in the bumper that happened to go out.

Sounds more like a short or loose connector somwhere in the column. I would go get a diagnosis from dealer then do a DIY on whatever they say. SZL cost arond $530 pls labor plus programming, more like a $1200 job.

Indie was asking for $800 to fix. Dealer gave roughly $1000 estimate over the phone. Taking my car in Monday for the battery cable recall. Will see what they say in regards to possibly these two being related as well as the sensors in the bumper that have been giving me the passenger restraint fault

Not related at all.

What sensors in the bumper? PDC? PDC sensors can/do go bad over time.

Crash/impact sensors in bumper. Apparently both went bad at the same time. Not sure if they are the same as PDC sensors

PDC is the Parking Distance Control. Not the same as the crash sensors.

I bet that there's actually water damage somewhere and causing a corroded wiring harness to short. That would explain the non-functioning buttons and sensor failures.
